Not nearly as many people are using MEETUP.COM as Facebook. Due to the high cost of this service -- and because I have been paying out of my own pocket for the last six months -- I am going to cancel my payment subscription as of the end of January, 2009. If someone wants to take this over, please email me... but otherwise, please transfer your info to the Facebook group -- or sign up with an account on edmontonskeptics.org -- else you fall out of the communications loop. |

Who Are The Edmonton Skeptics? |
|
"…skepticism is a method, not a position. Ideally, skeptics do not go into an investigation closed to the possibility that a phenomenon might be real or that a claim might be true. When we say we are 'skeptical,' we mean that we must see compelling evidence before we believe." (Skeptic Magazine)
Of course! There are plenty of logical folks in the Edmonton area who are interested in a local Skeptical Movement where it we organize, meet, and discuss issues relating to philosophy, science, and rational thought. Please join the group, invite others, and post your thoughts. Join up. Invite your friends.
Please visit our Facebook group and feel free to post links, videos, or discussion topics about science versus pseudo-science, religion versus secularism, church versus state, reason versus belief, politics versus conspiracy, evolution versus creationism, and anything else that is ready to be openly debated. Anyone can post to this group, but it is a place for open, rational, and science-based debate on topics about the paranormal, conspiracy theories, scams, shams, fundamentalism, moral absolutism, alternative medicines, and all around general quackery. No one will be censored but prepare to be torched in a discussion if your logic is flawed. |

Sign up for an account on this site for more access. It's free, of course. And you will be able to add articles and review notes from our past meetings. Also, we're working on setting up some project management tools to track some of our project ideas and their progress. If you'd like to participate in working on any of these projects you need an account to access that part of the site. |
